Efficiency Services

Second Generation Energy offers Comprehensive Energy Audits and Weatherization Services including Air Sealing and Insulation. We are nationally recognized by the Building Performance Institute as a certified heating professional and a building specialist professional. Our auditors are highly trained and use state of the art equipment to identify and quantify energy savings opportunities in your home or building. We offer upgrade & retrofit services to fix the problems, and our weatherization team can take care of the many "easy fixes" that will make a big difference in your energy bills.

Weatherizing your home is one of the most effective energy saving measures you can take. It is also one of the most economical. You will see an immediate return on your energy investment while increasing your homes efficiency and comfort. Best of all, there are rebates and incentives available to help defray the costs.

We understand and view a building as a whole -with many parts working together. When all the parts are working well, you have an efficient whole. If not, you have energy problems. Second Generation Energy offers full weatherization services that encompass the whole. We focus on the envelope of your home — its outer walls, ceiling, windows, doors, and floors. We seal leaks, ducts and add insulation to make the building tighter and more efficient. The result will be lower energy bills, increased comfort and a lighter impact on the environment.

Our specific weatherization services include Air Sealing, Adding Insulation, Sealing Ducts, Caulking, Weather Stripping, Patching, and Window Repair.

Currently, there are grants and incentives available that we will help you take advantage of. Here are just a few of your options...

The 2009 federal stimulus package (The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) has created an expanded residential energy tax credit for 2009. For MOST improvements the maximum tax credit for investments in home energy efficiency is 30% of the cost and the total credit for the combined costs of any or all improvements is $1,500. The 2010 stimulus package is expected to provide rebates up to $1,500.

In addition to a federal tax credit additional state incentives exist. One possible means of financing your energy efficiency changes is a 0% financing loan for up to $15,000.00 with terms of up to seven years.

Additionally, utility companies offer rebates on a variety of qualified materials such as windows, insulation, air sealing and other weatherization equipment, high efficiency heating systems, water heaters, thermostats, energy star central air conditioning and heat pumps, and energy star refrigerators.
